Huvudstaden, Myten, Legenden (The Capital, the Myth, the Legend)

Four Freezing Frogs

Rain, sleet, and Stockholm. This last weekend we packed our bags and took a 1 hour flight to Stockholm from Malmo. We landed around 7pm on Friday then taxied over to our hotel/ hostel called the Generator. The Generator was a modern hostel with a neat bar called the Hilma attached next door. We checked in and were given a room with two bunk beds and a tiny bathroom with a shower. The first night we ate at Hilma and made our way over to TAK, which is a new sushi restaurant people are raving about on the internet so we figured we should give it a shot. However, it was so popular we could only reserve something around 10pm but it was worth it!

The Hilma Bar

The next day we wasted no time and woke up around 8am then headed over to the Greasy Spoon for breakfast. The eggs Benedict was one of the best I've ever had with homemade hollandaise sauce and perfectly cooked bacon. The Greasy Spoon is situated in Gamla Stan, which is old town Stockholm. We ubered to the heart of Old Town and walked down the streets and alleys with shops, restaurants, and coffee cafes all around. Unfortunately the weather was rather drab with it being windy, rainy, and of course cold. We wandered around and ended up in the Stockholm Palace which we decided to take a tour. The Palace was filled with history, ornate designs, and lavish rooms I loved exploring and gaining more knowledge because quite frankly I did not know much about Stockholm before touring the Palace.

Below are ancient photos we took at the Palace, comment which photo you think could pass as a real painting.

On Sunday, we had a later start to the day around 10:30am and made our way to the Vasa Museum. I did not know this whole museum was dedicated to this 17th century warship that capsized shortly after leaving it's dock. I could go on and on about the history and intricate recovery of the ship but I will provide you with a link to the Vasa website if you are interested in learning more about why this ship is so fascinating. https://www.vasamuseet.se/en After the museum we did not have time to explore more so we ate a quick lunch and headed to the airport. We were exhausted from the weekend and it felt nice to be back home in Malmo on Sunday. However, Stockholm is a place I would like to spend more than a weekend exploring the rich history behind the capital and beautiful architecture!

SO LONG STOCKHOLM!
